started from the bottom, now we’re here

A brief history, and isn't it beautiful!

2016

Inspired by two incredible birth experiences, Siobhan’s third baby PBC was born. Hurrah!

Following the difficult birth of her first baby, Siobhan was converted to the natural, scientific, and empowering approach of hypnobirthing after attending group classes herself when she was pregnant with her second baby in 2014. Baby Arlo was born that year, oh so calmly, at home in front of the Christmas tree with no pain relief after just a couple of hours of labour. Siobhan describes it as the best day of her life 🙌 Baby Arlo’s birth inspired Siobhan to qualify as a hypnobirthing teacher herself, to help others have this life-changing experience too.

2017

This year saw Siobhan travelling the breadth of the country to share her knowledge, teaching hypnobirthing to expectant parents across the UK, speaking at major events, and blogging her way into the birth world. She was on a mission: to make hypnobirthing knowledge accessible for all and to change the world one birth at a time. She used the power of the internet to do this, launching the PBC YouTube channel to post free resources, and growing a dedicated social media community which became a vital virtual village to support expectant and new parents. This approach to knowledge and community is still at the heart of what we do today!

2018

After late nights, tears, laughter, and impeccable lighting we saw the launch of the world’s first-ever digital hypnobirthing course, ‘The Digital Pack’, our flagship product (now called The Hypnobirthing Pack) which has gone on to be used by 100,000 + parents worldwide.

We teamed this with the launch of our in-person classes nationwide in cities including Birmingham, Brighton & London.  This year also saw us go viral (wahey!) following our #PositiveBirthStory project, showcasing the power of community.

2019

We weren’t about to slow down! This year saw the launch of ‘Freya’, our virtual birth partner which is a firm favourite with our community. It hit the top apps of the year spot quickly following release and would continue to do so for the next four years and counting!

Siobhan released her first book, Practical Ways to Make Your Birth Better published by Little Browne, and took the book on tour around the UK, along with some of PBC’s most famous supporters including YouTuber Louise Pentland and Sunday Times bestselling author Sarah Turner. The book is now available in five languages and as an audiobook.

We also launched our second digital course, ‘The Postpartum Pack’ to prepare and guide our community through the crucial fourth trimester and beyond!

(Side note – we donned our glad rags and headed out for our first PBC Christmas party – yes, we finally have employees!!)

2020

You guessed it, COVID! Ruined our social lives but only made us more eager for PBC to make a real difference in what was truly a terrible time for many.

We released an abundance of free resources, including live masterclasses and workshops from a whole host of experts, as well as live Playtime and Unwind sessions on YouTube for parents and kids. Throughout it all, we continued to support our online communities with free knowledge, education and advice to help them birth positively in a pandemic and feel empowered to face parenthood with the backing of their virtual village.

We also stood in solidarity with keyworkers, surprising thousands of people on the NHS frontline with our Super Human pin badges designed by Instagram’s favourite mental health advocate and artist Stacie Swift.

Following the Black Lives Matter movement we published our anti-racism manifesto pledging £50,000 to fund research, projects and initiatives that support Black and Asian women and birthing people.

2021

This is the year Siobhan got her face on TV!! She bravely entered the Dragon’s Den and impressed the Dragons so much that she left with a hefty investment offer (which we later declined but that’s a different story!).

We launched not one but TWO new digital courses this year, our TTC Pack to help people learn about fertility and their journey to conception and our Pregnancy Pack to support people through pregnancy with all the knowledge they never learned about at school.

2021 also saw our biggest campaign to date. ‘Birthing the Future’ involved a full photoshoot, interviews, an incredible team of campaign heroes and even a huge London mural (a very special moment for us!). Later that year we also did a special campaign to celebrate parents in the LGBTQIA+ community. ‘Proud Parent’ was fronted by an incredible team of activists and advocates, including Freddy McConnell, and Hannah and Jake Graf.

Oh, and not to be forgotten, we also acquired a brand-new super shiny office so Siobhan could finally stop hosting the team in her spare room and get her house back!

2022

This year was a firm favourite which saw highlights including PBC becoming a certified B Corp (so proud!), raising over £20,000 for Ukraine, setting a GUINESS WORLD RECORD (yes you heard right), winning triple gold including ‘Parenting Brand of the Year’ in Made for Mums awards, and perhaps the best bit of all, Siobhan becoming a mum again to her fourth baby - a baby girl to join her brothers 🙌 !

We launched our final digital course to date, The Early Years Pack, a guide to the first five years of parenting, as well as the audiobook for Practical Ways to Make Your Birth Better.

To top it off, we got ‘into a relationship’ with our friends over at Boots.com to launch PBC packs into the wholesale world.

We can’t wait to continue this journey for years to come, working toward our mission: to change the world, one birth at a time.
