Proudly B Corp

To our amazing Positive Birth community,

I’m so insanely proud to announce that The Positive Birth Company is now officially a Certified B Corp business

Seriously, PINCH ME!!

There are just 800 businesses in the UK who are certified and of those, we must be one of the smallest. So this feels like a giant achievement. Becoming a B Corp isn’t easy, in fact it’s taken us years. The process is demanding and rigorous with numerous assessments along the way to ensure you really are practicing what you preach.

But becoming a B Corp is just the beginning for us… by certifying, we commit to using the business to positively impact all stakeholders – workers, communities, customers, and the planet - and are held accountable each year. We also have the opportunity to work with other businesses within the B Corp community, who share our values and are all united by a desire to make the world a better place.

We know we do good work - we hire exceptional people and treat them exceptionally well, we create products and resources that make a positive difference to people’s lives, and we put people before profit every time - but I’m not going to lie, to be publicly and officially acknowledged for doing so, feels really good!

Back in 2016 when I set up The Positive Birth Company, I didn’t know anything about running or growing a business - I never studied business and I’ve still to date never read a business book (!) - but I had a mission that I was passionate about, which was to make hypnobirthing more accessible for everyone and ‘to change the world, one birth at a time’.

As the business grew, so did our amazing global community, the PBC team, our online courses and free resources, but at the core of everything remains my original mission / our ethos / our reason why; to be a force for good and leave the world a better place.

You can read more about our B Corp certification and commitments on our website but for now, know that we are here to make antenatal and postnatal education and support more accessible and inclusive for everyone, and we won’t stop until everyone has equal access.

I’m so proud to do business differently and happy to now be connected with a community of like-minded people. I have always made business decisions on instinct. I don’t look at spreadsheets, I don’t understand finance or follow forecasting (apart from when I had to memorise it all for dragons den, before deciding it wasn’t for me).

It’s certainly not how everyone works but it seems to work for PBC. This year so far we’ve been crowned Parenting Brand of the Year, become a certified B Corp business and set a Guinness World Record.

Maybe, just maybe, we can inspire others to use their business for good.

Bring on the B Corp ripple effect.

Siobhan xx
