Birth story - Molly and baby Hunter

I started reading my positive birth book at around 30 weeks pregnant.

It changed my mentality and made so much sense to me. I became excited and was looking forward to birthing my baby. My plan was to not plan too much but I had birth preferences written down and little personal touches I wanted involved in the birth (birthing pool) I had run over all of this with my partner and we had everything ready and prepared.

Turns out my body had another plan. On the 1st December I was admitted to triage as I had mentioned I was leaking what I thought was discharge. Turns out it was my waters and they had been leaking for over a week... subsequently I was 2cm dilated and admitted to the maternity ward to be monitored and to keep baby in a little longer (He was due 7th Jan).

At 1:30am on December 4th I woke with slight cramps and asked the midwife for 2 paracetamol... I went to the toilet and couldn’t get up .. when the midwife came to see if I was ok I said I thought something was happening but didn’t know what ... I certainly didn’t think it was labour!

They checked me to see if I had progressed from 2cm and I was 8!!!

I kept calm and breathed through the surges embracing them as they came. 40 minutes later I delivered my baby boy hunter at 35 weeks.

I had gas and air and forceps delivery, on a bed in stirrups, so not anything I had planned or wanted but he wasn’t waiting for anyone.

It was the most amazing experience of my life. Due to the positive birthing company I embraced the madness and kept calm, breathing was my focus and my fiancé’s motivational words in my ear. 6lb5 Hunter Geoffrey arrived at 2:19am December 4th.

Thankyou for giving me the tools to process everything that happened so unexpectedly in a cool, calm manner.
