Birth story - Kate and baby Holly
I was apprehensive about giving birth as everyone (mainly mother in law and nan in law) says how bad it is and how painful it is, so I was determined to prove them wrong and wanted a beautiful birth, it is a natural thing after all 🙂😍
So on the 1/9/18 we bought our little girl into the world @ 39+6
On the Friday we took the dog for a walk on the beach, got back and went to bed. I was wide awake and couldn't sleep, at around 12.30am I had back ache, turned over it went away, at 1am I had it again, started to get excited thinking ohhh is this it? 😊
Soon I was getting contractions every 15 mins, lasting between 20 and 40 seconds, I carried this on for a while, breathing through them and remembering the positive affirmations. I woke my husband at 3am and rang the delivery suite as my contractions were getting closer together but still irregular in length, they said run a bath and give them a ring when they are all lasting a minute! I got in the bath, couldn't get comfy so got back out again after about 3 or 4 contractions in there 😂 a few were lasting a minute by now so rang again and they said come in.
We got to the hospital at 6am and got comfy and went through notes and got checked, I was 6 -7cm dilated 😊 carried on with my breathing and started with the gas and air, around half 8ish I had a wobble and said I'd need something more pain killer wise, and the midwife said there isn't much point your almost there, which deep down I knew anyway!
At 9.41am Holly was born, weighing 7lb6oz ☺
I couldn't have done it without the digital pack, which I only got at around 36ish weeks and my amazing husband who kept me chilled and had to remind me slow my breathing a couple times! 😂
The midwives kept saying how good my breathing was and afterwards said I should have had a homebirth, which I was gutted about cause I really wanted a homebirth but a small part of me wanted to be somewhere safe if anything did go wrong!
Thanks to the digital pack for giving me such a positive birth and something I'll remember forever, for all the right reasons 😍 xx
