HYPNOBIRTHING IN BIRMINGHAM:
Birmingham hypnobirthing classes run monthly at the MAC and are led by Keri Lincoln. The MAC (Midlands Art Centre) is situated just 2 miles outside of Birmingham City Centre in the beautiful Cannon Hill Park. The venue is easily accessible by public transport but there is also a carpark available for those preferring to drive.
The 12 hour hypnobirthing course is designed to be a fully comprehensive antenatal course and is delivered over a weekend, with teaching taking place 10-4pm on both days. An advantage to group classes is that you will have the opportunity to meet other parents-to-be and there is always a really positive atmosphere. Women are welcome to attend any time from 20 weeks into their pregnancy but most women attend around the 30 week mark.
UPCOMING DATES FOR BIRMINGHAM:
Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th December
Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd February
Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th March
CAN BIRTH PARTNERS ATTEND?
Birth partners are not only welcome to attend but encouraged to do so because we recognise they play a vital role in the birth process. We believe that a woman should be well supported in pregnancy and birth and the course equips the birth partner with all the tools they need to be able to do this. We believe that birth is a real team effort.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND WHAT'S INCLUDED?
The cost of the course is £250 per couple and this includes the hypnobirthing book, MP3s, course materials, goody bag, pack of positive affirmation cards and on going support, available on phone or email, right up until the birth of your baby. You will also be invited to join a small private community on Facebook, where you will be able to chat with women who have previously completed the course and get support and advice.
WHAT WILL I LEARN AND HOW WILL IT HELP ME?
On the course you will learn how your body is designed to work perfectly in birth from a physiological and psychological perspective. You will learn how to work with your body to best facilitate a quick and easy labour and birth. You will be taught various relaxation techniques and have the opportunity to practice them. Most importantly you will come to understand why it is important to remain calm and relaxed, in mind and body, and also how to achieve this. On the course we also discuss birth place choices and the interventions you may be offered so that you are in a position to make fully informed decisions. We also discuss options available to you regarding the delivery of your placenta and the injections that will be offered to your baby at birth. Finally we run through the different stages of labour so you know what to expect and bring everything you have learnt together so you leave feeling informed, empowered and excited to give birth.
Private classes are also available and can be delivered in the comfort of your own home and at a time of your choosing (subject to teacher availability). Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more.
